I have a question why do we put an arrival before a sport such as je faire du tennis isn’t du means some or off what does mean if we put it before the sport?

Whether to include the definite article "le" when asking for someone's preferenceIn French, what is the difference between "Tu préfères le café ?" and "Tu préfères café ?" when asking for someone's preference for coffee?

Is the distinction the same as in English, where "the coffee" is specific to a particular coffee in the current context? And "coffee" without the article is talking about coffee in general?
