Using le, la, les, du, de la, de, des I've read through the relevant lessons, but I'm still not clear on a few points: If want to say "He likes cheese" do I say "Il aime le fromage" ? What about the negative: "He doesn't like cheese" is it "Il n'aime pas le fromage" ? Why is "I adore cucumbers" "J'adore les concombres" but "I eat apples" "je mange des pommes" ? What about with "avoir peur" is it "il a peur des chiens" ? In the negative would it be "il n'a pas peur de chien". ?

Singular article with plural adjective + noun?

Hello,

I've run into a few sentences that use a singluar "de" before a plural adjective + noun. Like, "Elle a de grands meubles." Why is it de in this case and not "des"?

Indefinite Article Usage

I was wondering why the use of indefinite articles with descriptive nouns was no longer in use. For example, I learned to say "Je suis une chanteuse." But, a textbook I am using in my class simply says "Je suis chanteuse." First, why is the un or une no longer included and second, is it grammatically correct to say something like "Je suis fille." or "Il est homme."? Much appreciated for any help. Rules have changed since I was a student.
