If "prendre" means "to take", could I also use this in a sentence to signify that someone is "stealing" or even physically grabbing something?
Can "prendre" also be used as a synonym for the English word, "steal"?

My understanding is that prendre is simply "to take". It doesn't mean stealing. That would be voler.

No prendre only means to take. To steal is voler, and a thief is un voleur.
