In the context of an article on Tour de France, “ les coureurs “, with ‘cyclistes’ understood, is fine; could equally have been “ les cyclistes “ (with coureurs understood), or “ les coureurs cyclistes “ for full specificity.
The translation of “ les coureurs” is to “the cyclists”, which is a judgement call by the translator - not literal, but conveys the meaning in the context.
Hi Tracy,
I just copied the following from the lesson page:-
Un coureur cycliste ---> A racing cyclistHope it answers your query.
