Freeform Writing Exercise B1
I haven't carried out the exercise, but what occurs to me is the question of degree.
My understanding is that "rafales" tend to be more associated with persistent blustery weather.
"Coup de vent" is more of a gust(s) but not to the degree of being so stormy as above for "rafales"
So it's a question of context as to which term is most apt for the exercise.
