in the text, you start by saying 'ils leur ont préparé un cadeau....' Singular.
but at the end, you say '....de si jolis cadeaux'. It is hard to know if it is plural or not by just listening, especially when we started with just the one.

I'm not sure what the context is here, but I think the "de" implies plural.
un si joli cadeau
de si jolis cadeaux
You know, of course, whether it's singular or plural when you see it written (le cadeau vs. les cadeaux). In spoken French you would only know by context.
