I wonder why the plural form of tête not used in "Nous nous grattons la tête"

This question relates to:French lesson "Using le, la, les with body parts and clothing (definite articles)"

This question comes up a lot. French speakers think of the head of the individual, i.e., each one scratches only his own head, whereas English speakers think of all the heads collectively.
