Jusqu'en

Why not just "jusqu'août"?  What does the 'en" bring that is not already there?  Thanks.

Chris W.C1 Kwiziq Q&A super contributor Correct answer

Jusqu'en août -- until August.

The preposition en ist used to indicate something during an entire month (here's the corresponding lesson: En vs Dans with time (French Prepositions of Time)):

Le musée sera fermé en août. -- The museum will be closed in August.
