"On" vs "nous"

Instead of

"D'abord, nous apprenons les mots de Pâques"

would it be acceptable to say

"D'abord, on apprend les mots de Pâques"

In colloquial French it would be acceptable. It is also possible in written French but there it connotes the impersonal we, as in "one learns" instead of "we learn".
