Référence qui, que/ ce qui, ce que.

Question

There are two long phrases in this paragraph

1 Le yoga………les “pranayamas “ en Sanskrit, qui apprennent …………, ce qui à son tour ……………

2 En outre, le yoga offre de nombreux styles…………qui varient………….., ce qui le rend………………In both there is no doubt as what is being referred to, so why is the first qui and the second ce qui and not qui in both situations?

The answer is in the lesson linked below.
It is not that the required word/expression is referring to something known that determines the choice between que/qui and ce que/ce qui, but whether it refers to a noun only, or a ‘ whole idea ‘ or ‘ whole part of a sentence ‘.

  “ When to use ce qui or ce que versus qui or que ?
In cases where ce qui / ce que would also be translated by which in English, you need to ask yourself: 
What is que/qui/ce que/ce qui referring to?
If the reference is to a noun (expressed before), then you will use que/qui.
If it refers to the whole part of the sentence, the whole idea, then it will be ce que/ce qui. “
