Hi Frank,

"Do we have any (bell) peppers at home? - No, I checked in the fridge this morning."

In order to investigate the presence of peppers in the fridge the verb used is as above, "checked".

The verb vérifier means to verify/confirm/check.

The verb regarder means to look/watch/view.

In the context of the text above, the verb vérifier is clearly the most appropriate.

This will be why the verb regarder was not accepted.

Bonne journée

Jim
