Many verbs require a preposition in order to be followed by another verb, where the second verb is always in the infintive. In the case of finir, this preposition is "de".

verbs + de + [Infinitive]  - Verbs + de + infinitive

why do we use finir conjugated and then "de" before the infinitive ?
