Why peut-etre que?

I am doing an exercise called "My post-university plans."  I am asked to translate from English to French "Maybe I'll be able to spend some time ...." I wrote "Peut-etre je pourrai passer les temps..."  The answer was "Peut-etre que je pourrai..."  My question is why the "que" after peut-etre?  Thank you.

In French, as also sometimes in English, one says "Maybe that I will spend some time..." In English this "that" is optional, not so in French.
