You need the present tense because the entire sentence is in the present: you have the habit right now, as you speak. The English sentence is also in present tense ("I am used to" is present tense. "I was used to" would be past tense.)
What a load of rubbish. I was going to bed late but not now it is the imparfait. This subject needs a teacher and not a student of this language. Why hasn't one the creators of this course replied with a faisable explaination of this question ???????Don't they have one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I apoligise, it has just dawned on me that it is in the present " I am used to going to bed late" or " I have got used to going to bed late" "So I am happy to do it"
