James, I have it on very good authority that it would NOT be « une chambre d'invités » in the East of France, and would definitely be either « une chambre d'amis », or « une chambre pour les invités » (the 2nd option indicated as correct in the answer).

Neither wordreference nor Larousse mention chambre d'invités but both give chambre d'amis. Collins is not very helpful as it translates guestroom to chambre d'hôte, which is a B&B room.
