Avant vs Devant

Is there any explanation why we say "poche avant" and not "poche devant" in this text ?

Hi Umur,

You cannot use 'devant' with pocket.

avant/arrière = front/back

Dans une voiture par exemple -

sièges avant = front seats

sièges arrière = back seats

Whereas -

devant/derrière = in front of / behind something

Je vous attends devant la mairie = I am waiting for you in front of the town hall

Les enfants sont cachés derrière le canapé = The children are hiding behind the sofa
