Je suits fan des or de films...?

Bonjour Lucinda,

Je suis fan de films = I am a fan of movies (generally)

Je suis fan des (de + les) films d'animations = I am a fan of animated films (specific type)

See link here on a similar question with 'avoir besoin de' : when-to-use-des

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

@Céline: I wonder if a lesson on use of the definite article to specify the general and the specific isn't in order. It is cause of a lot of confusion and recurring questions.

Sometimes, adding the article signifies the general category: j'aime le chocolat. And sometimes leaving it off does the same trick: Je suis fan de films.

Bonjour Chris,

Thank you very much for your comment and feedback! I do agree that it is a recurring topic and I'll discuss it with the French team.

Merci et bonne journée !
