de peur que _ _ _ _
This question relates to:French lesson "De peur que + ne explétif + the subjunctive mood (Le Subjonctif) = for fear that in French"
Asked 5 years ago
Bonjour Ron,
It doesn't work with 'soit' (= être - verb of state). The English translation uses the expression 'there might be' (= built from there is), which in French becomes 'il y ait' (= il y a) (in this case: 'il n'y ait' because of 'de peur que').
Follow the link to a previous answer: avoir-or-etre
Also, see link here: how-to-say-there-is-or-there-are-il-y-a
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !

Celine, in English 'there might be' is not the same as 'there is' .
