does past participle agrees "avoir" with en?

Thy M.B1Kwiziq Q&A regular contributor

does past participle agrees "avoir" with en?

Bonjour,

So i learn in the lesson regarding past "avoir" that the verb needs to accord with the COD.

So for example, how do i say "I liked my ice cream so i bought another one"?

A. J'ai aimé ma glace, donc j'en ai acheté une autre.

B. J'ai aimé ma glace, donc j'en ai achetée une autre.

Good question Thy,

In your example, there wouldn't be any agreement as the past participle never agrees with the pronoun 'en' in compound tenses, even though 'en' replaces a direct object.

Even though it functions as a direct object in that sentence and replaces 'de la glace' and precedes the verb, the past participle stays invariable

Bonne Continuation !
