Elle ________ Franck ne vienne pas. She's expecting Franck not to come.

I answered this question with attends que and was marked wrong. In the notes on attendre que it  says "to wait for [someone] i.e. Frank to do [something] i.e. not to come" why is my answer wrong?

Hi Jeramy,

In simple terms -

attendre que to  wait for something to happen ( just a question of time

s'attendre à ce que to expect something to happen ( it's an expectation- something that might happen or might not

You could say -

Elle attend que Franck vienne She is waiting for Franck to come

You cannot 'wait' for someone not to come it has to be 'expect' in this case.

Elle s'attend à ce que Franck ne vienne pas = She's expecting Franck not to come

Hope this helps!
