Hello.
Would "au cours des années" be considered correct too? If not, what would be the difference between "au fil des ans/années" and "au cours des années" ?
Thanks.

Elle interpréta de nombreux tubes/hits/succès au fil des ans
Asked 3 years ago
Hi Jenk,
"She sang many hits over the years" -- "succès au fil des ans" This is charting her singing career over the many years that she was performing.
The text is making reference to her career overall not referring to each annual "duration" year by each individual year.
The difference between "an" and "année" is the difference between one of the years out of ten of a decade for example "an" and the duration of twelve months in a year from January to December "année"
Hope this helps clear things up for you.
Jim
