Lawless says there are seven male gender countries, and lists them. I have found number 8, Canada! Why does Lawless say seven?
Gender of countries

Bonjour Kenneth,
As my lesson explains,
- Countries that end in -e are feminine (France, etc)
- with 7 exceptions (Mexique, etc)
- Countries ending in any other letter are masculine (Canada, etc)

Bonne continuation !
Kenneth,
Laura’s site is a separate entity and you should direct questions related to it to her through that site, although she may catch sight or be made aware of your query from here.
You don’t include a link to the statement, but as can be seen from the attached list from her site, it seems unlikely she has enumerated and indicated only 7 masculine countries, when she lists many, many more here.
Are you sure you haven’t misread or missed some context ?

Kenneth,
Glad you have found the resolution.
I suspect it is the countries with masculine gender exceptions ending in ‘ e ‘ she is referring to ?
Continents/countries/counties/regions/states are masculine, feminine or plural in French (Gender)
