Hello - I don't understand why we're talking about 'faire des tartes' when we started off with 'un gâteau and finished with 'la tarte'

Hi Lynne, 

We use the term 'gâteau' very loosely in French , it means a 'pâtisserie' , so 'faire un gâteau' is rather to bake...

So it could be a tarte, a gaufre, a meringue,galette etc...

Cécile thank you for getting back so quickly - but! That wasn't really my question - its about the use of des - when the 2 other references are to a singular gâteau or tarte - some tartes as opposed to a tarte!

Thanks for the clarification , the change of article didn’t strike me as odd when I did the exercise ....I think that ‘s what would happen naturally when speaking.
