How to express feeling more specific sensations with "sentir"

Bonjour,

Regarding this portion of the lesson:

"Sentir can also be used in a larger sense to express to feel something:

- Ça fait mal ? / Does it hurt?
- Non, je ne sens rien. / No, I don't feel anything.

- Est-ce qu'elle sent ça ? / Does she feel that?"

Could someone expound upon what's meant here by "in a larger sense" and also clarify whether sentir can be used to express feeling something specific (i.e. feeling + a noun)?

Some examples:

She felt the wind in her hair.

He felt her hand on his shoulder.

I felt pain in my leg, and then fell.

Merci d'avance!
