Bonjour Andre !

To say that something happened in French, you can use different expressions, such as:
ça s'est passé / ça a eu lieu / c'est arrivé.

So to express why something happened, you could say:
c'est arrivé parce que (because) /car (for) / puisque (since)...

and to ask the question:
Pourquoi est-ce que c'est arrivé ? / Pourquoi ça a eu lieu ?
or Pourquoi cela a-t-il eu lieu ? (formal) / Pourquoi ça s'est passé ? ...
