Interesting point!

I think it is because the boy is with his father so ‘à la maison’ )  is more correct than ‘chez moi’ which means ‘at my house’ and the house is not technically his. 

However, ‘chez nous’   should have been acceptable I think.

Yes, you could say -

Il m'a fait voir comment mettre l'appât à l'hameçon

instead of -

Il m'a montré ...

Hi there  could I use "faire voir" for the verb to show instead of montrer.  So the sentence would be;   "Il m'a fair voir comment mettre l'appat a l'hamecon " 

Instead of  "ll m'a montré comment mettre l'appât à l'hameçon".   

Apologies but my keyboard is acting up so I am not sure why the accent are not showing in my sentences.
