is pire only for adjectives?
This question relates to:French lesson "Meilleur, mieux, pire / plus mauvais, plus mal = better, best, worse and worst in French (irregular comparatives and superlatives)"
Asked 2 years ago
Bonjour Felix,
In French, you cannot say "je danse le pire".
When comparing with "pire" and "mal", you can't use them the same way: "mal" is used for actions while "pire" is used for general statement with "être".
Je danse plus mal que toi = I dance worse than you
Je danse le plus mal = I dance the worst
If "pire" is an adjective, then it would be qualifying someone or something (see example below):
Je suis mauvais danseur mais tu es encore pire (plus mauvais) que moi = I am a bad dancer but you are even worse than I
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
