Is this in the Conditional tense?

I probably missed something, but isn't this example in the Conditional and not the Pluperfect?

      Si nous l'avions choisi, nous l'aurions regretté.

      If we'd chosen him, we would have regretted it.

It would be great if I could understand why I'm wrong ;-)

Emmet - it is both (sort of), as there are 2 clauses to consider !

As Jim indicates:

 the 'si/if clause' uses plus-que-parfait in this setting (of an "impossible", or 3rd conditional) - that is avoir in imparfait with the past participle -« avions choisi »;

the result/then clause uses conditionnel passé/past conditional - avoir in conditional, with past participle « aurions regretté »

Hi Emmet,

I think it would be of more value for you if I were to direct you here:-

----- rather than me trying to explain.

Hope this helps.
