Le quartier is where you live, the streets, the buildings, what is there etc...

To me voisinage is more about people, what your neighbours are like...


doesn't voisinage directly translate to neighbourhood.....are they not interchangeable.

I would say not John, particularly in this context -

On habite dans un quartier ( dans une ville ), dans un village    et on parle du voisinage as per explanation above ....
