It’s not problem

I'm wondering why "ça ne fait rien" was incorrect when saying 'it’s not problem?

Salut Nick

Ça ne fait rien  -- It's nothing  (You have made an error and are excused)

It's not a problem --  Ça n'est pas un problème

You will see from above that your proposal is not quite the same thing, although perhaps acceptable colloquially.

Bonne journée

Jim

I agree with Jim, it is slightly different, and I would add the translation as -

Don't worry about!

or

It doesn't matter!

Hope this helps!
