J'en regarderai un épisode ce soir

Bonjour!  Can someone help me with this sentence - in particular the word "en."   I am a little confused about why "en" is used along with "un épisode."  I probably would have written J'en regarderai un ce soir to mean I will watch one tonight.  Merci pour votre aide !

Hi White,

It refers back to the series 'Dix pour Cent' ( Call my Agent!). So strictly speaking the person is saying -

I'll watch one episode (of it)  tonight

Hi White,

I have only read the preamble text.

What I think is the case here is that "en" is a pronoun in the sense of "de cela"  ->  of it / that ....

So we have a series of episodes of a program and you will watch "one of them" (J'en regarderai)  this evening ---  You will watch one OF THE (de cela - en) series ......

I suspect that you were already thinking along these lines anyway and only needed a bit of reassurance?

Bonne continuation,

Jim

If the context was talking about 'a series', "j'en regarderai un ce soir" would be interpreted as 'watch one series', not 'one episode'; to clarify 'watch one episode of ...' (the previously mentioned series) requires 'j'en regarderai un épisode ce soir'.
