Hi again,

Take a look at the following Kwiziq page on the gender of nouns -

https://progress.lawlessfrench.com/revision/grammar/how-to-identify-gender-by-some-word-endings

This is only a guide and there will be exceptions.

Hope this helps!

Hi Everyday cooking,

You can't tell from the definite article when it is elided but you do when you use the indefinite article -

un animal

une armoire

une assiette

but to make the word indefinite we should know from the beginning what is masculine or feminine word, exampe l'armoire and l'assiette both ends to "e" letter, but they are different, because one is feminine and second one is masculine , and my question is how I should know their gender ? Example especially when I use possessive adjective, his plate - will be "son assiette" but not "sa assiette" because its masculine
