La fourchette ________ tu te sers était à ma mère.

La fourchette ________ tu te sers était à ma mère.

I assumed "dont" would be the correct answer since the relative pronoun is for "se servir de" which is a verbal phrase.
I thought "de laquelle" was only used for prepositional phrases ( près de, à côté de, autour de, etc)

However, both answers are marked correct. Can someone please clarify this for me, please?

Hi T,

La fourchette dont tu te sers était à ma mère = The fork which you are using used to be my mother's

L'ordinateur dont tu te sers est très vieux = The computer which you are using is very old

You can also use 'de laquelle' ( fourchette) and 'duquel' ( ordinateur) but it is better French to use 'dont'.

But this lesson is already up for a clarification review.

I hope this helps!
