Ma (belle) famille Challenge

Bonjour Madame,

In this quiz , there is a sentence as "surtout quand elle détache ses longs cheveux roux."

Here, I am puzzled as to why possessive adjective is used with a body part but there is a lesson which contradicts by advising to use definite articles. Is this an exception ?

Secondly, why is 'roux' used for red ? Why not "rouges" ?

Bonne journée !

Hi Varsha,

For the first part of your query , it depends on the verb you are using.  Normally, it’s with the reflexive verbs that you will use a definite articles -

Se casser la jambe, se brosser les cheveux, se brosser les dents etc...

The second part -

We use different names for the different hair colours -

Blond/e, brun/e, châtain/aine, roux/sse

 Hope this helps!
