Non plus//// non pas plu

Sometimes it is okay to use pas and other times it is not. I am confused. I have answered both ways and get it wrong.

Bonjour Cassandra,

Without a clear example, it is a bit difficult to see if we've made a mistake somewhere. But, here what I can provide you with:

- if there's a verb, use "ne [conjugated verb] pas non plus"
Marc ? Je ne l'aime pas non plus ! = Marc? I don't like him either!
Je ne fume pas non plus. = I don't smoke either.

- If there is no verb, use "stress pronoun + non plus"
 - Je ne supporte pas l'odeur des épinards ! - Moi non plus ! = - I cannot stand the smell of spinach! - Me neither!
 - Nous ne sommes jamais allés aux États-Unis. - Nous non plus. - We've never been to the USA. - Neither have we.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
