One of the quiz items is "Je ferais n'importe quoi par amour." Why is "par" used here instead of "pour"?

My understanding is that «par amour» is more in keeping with 'because of love', 'out of love (for)' rather than 'for love'. Might be too simplistic but it seems to fit!
