Pour quoi "les Mienes" what if the speaker is masculine
This question relates to:French lesson "Le mien/le tien/le sien/etc = Mine/yours/his/hers/its (French Possessive Pronouns)"
Asked 4 years ago
Hi Gordon,
In French, the possessive pronouns agree with the thing possessed and not the owner -
C’est le crayon de Mathilde——>c’est son crayon /c’est le sien
It’s Mathilde’s pencil ——> it’s hers
Because ‘crayon’ is masculine.
C’est la tablette de Pierre ——-> c’est sa tablette/ c’est la sienne
Because 'tablette' is feminine.
It’s Pierre’s tablet ——> it’s his
Hope this helps!
