qui thought had to followed by verb
Hi Carol,
After some thought and looking at the lesson you pinned, I think I can see your confusion.
This particular lesson uses the 'qui ' relative pronoun with prepositions
avec qui = with whom
de qui = from whom
par qui = by whom
derrière qui = behind whom
etc
and in that case, you will find a personal pronoun after the 'qui' which breaks the 'rule of thumb' which says you will only have a verb or an object or reflexive pronouns after qui.
This rule of thumb is meant to help you see the difference between que and qui which is not always easy when speaking.
Hope this helps!
Hi Carol,
It is frustrating when you think that you have mastered a particular grammar aspect to find that there is another "twist".
Try here:- https://www.wordreference.com/fren/qui
Hope it helps.
