reflexive verb

Why is the reflexive used here when the main verb (faire de nouvelles sandales) is not reflexive? Je me fais faire de nouvelles sandales (correct) Je fait faire de nouvelles sandales (marked incorrect)

Bonjour Mary !

I had a look at your Correction board, and the reason your answer was marked as Incorrect was that you didn't conjugate faire correctly:
Je me fait (instead of fais) faire de nouvelles sandales.

As for the use of reflexive, in such cases, it colloquially emphasises the fact that you're having these sandals made for you (as opposed to someone else).

However, in this case, the alternative "Je fais faire des sandales" is also correct, and is already marked as such in the question :)

When reporting on specific questions, please use the Report it button in your Correction Board, as it helps us find the question you refer to more easily :)

Merci beaucoup et à bientôt !
