Si in Quebec/Canadian french?

Does anyone know if this is used commonly in Canadian French?

I've never come across it, or heard it!

Merci!

No, Lorraine, this use of si is not present in Canadian French; oui is used in this situation. Even so, most French Canadians are aware that European French speakers use si in this way, and they'd therefore be likely to understand it even though they wouldn't say it themselves.

Hi Lorraine,

I am not completely sure but I don't see why not as French Canadian has the same French language as its root.

They do have some different vocabulary and use many more English words and turns of phrases but this is a grammatical rule and on the whole, the grammar is the same.

Hope this helps!
