Is splitting the bill a common occurrence in french restaurants?

Splitting bills is still uncommon in France. But in a young crowd or among coworkers it‘s acceptable. Usually one takes turns to pay.

Nice saying that I've picked up is 'faire moit-moit' - to go halves (or faire moitié-moitié)
