Translation of "pack our bags"

Is "mettre les affaires dans" not an acceptable translation of "to pack"?

Merci!

Bonjour Alaina,

In French, "to pack" means "faire sa valise" while "mettre les affaires dans sa valise" means "to put one's belongings in one's luggage" (not to confuse with "mettre ses affaires en ordre / mettre de l'ordre dans ses affaires" = to put one's affairs in order).

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Salut Alaina,

Without full context, your proposal could be understood to mean your business affairs rather than:-

packing your (ones) bags  --> faire ses valises

Bonne journée
