Use of dont

Use of dont

In French, does one think of somebody, or does one think to somebody. Surely " La personne dont je pense me rend heureux." is correct. The person of whom I think makes me happy. Yet the answer shown to be correct was, " La personne à laquelle je pense me rend heureux." The person to whom I think makes me happy." Please clarify this for me. Thank you.

Bonjour Eric ! Actually in French "to think of someone" is "penser à quelqu'un" : one of those tricky transference cases :) Bonne journée !

...and consequently "La personne dont je pense...." is incorrect. -- Chris (not a native speaker).
