For the verb "finir", what is the difference between saying "j'ai fini" and "je fini"? Would the latter be used when you are referring to something specific later in the sentence?
J'ai fini is in the past tense, but je finis (-s ending) is in the present (I'm finishing/I finish).
As it happens, je finis is also the Past Historic (Passé Simple) - I finished (a tense covered in B2).
Hope this helps!
J'ai fini (meaning "I am finished" or "I have finished") is in the past tense, while je fini (meaning "I'm finishing") is the present tense.
