Use of "le" with days of the week

When talking about Saturday and Sunday, "le" is used.  But the grammar section on articles + days of the week says that if you are talking about a particular day of the week (i.e., a particular Saturday, as the Saturday of this romantic weekend) and not the day in general, you don't use the article.  So why is it used here?

Hi Karen,

Aurélie has added the possibility without the article, and we have discussed the subject at length.

In fact, in the context of a story in the past, you could say -

on Sunday dimanche

or

on the Sunday ( the one we are talking about) = le dimanche

But thank you for bringing this to our attention.
