Use of Masculine and feminine when talking about time

Pendant son année sabbatique, il a voyagé autour du monde.During his sabbatical year, he travelled around the world.
In this example, why is it 'son' annee sabbatique?  AS annee sabbatique is feminine, shoud it not be 'sa'?

the attached lesson addresses this - it is ‘ son année ‘ because of the vowel following the possessive adjective
