What about "Je suis assis"?

I can see your confusion -

Je m'assieds dans ma voiture = I am sitting/ I sit in my car 

and describes the action of sitting down not the fact that you are sat in it for this you would have to say-

Je suis assis/e dans ma voiture = I am sat (seated) in my car
