when we should use j'ai instead of je suis and examples please.
This question relates to:French lesson "Je becomes j' with verbs beginning with a vowel in French (Elision)"
Asked 4 years ago
J'ai -- I have.
Je suis -- I am.
J'ai une voiture. -- I have a car.
Je suis heureux. -- I am happy.
That said, later on you will discover avoir and être as auxiliary verbs. But for now, stick with the lessons and progress step by step.

You use j ai instead of je suis because j ai is smaller than je suis

what about if you are feeling terrible about something would you use avoir to indicate that you have terrible feeling or use etre since in that moment you ARE infact feeling terrible?
