Why "déménager dans"? In general I have been told that "on déménage d'une maison et emménage dans une autre"
Why "déménager dans"

Hi George,
In this context, it is correct to say -
déménager dans notre propre petit coin de paradis
for
to move to our own little piece of paradise.
You might also say -
Nous avons décidé de déménager dans un quartier plus agréable = We have decided to move to a more pleasant district
or
Nous avons décidé de déménager à la mer/ à la campagne/ à la montagne = We have decided to move to the seaside/the countryside/ the mountains
But you will use déménager for to move out and emménager for to move in .
Hope this helps!
< emménager > is more specifically about 'the move in' only;
< déménager > is used for a move from somewhere to somewhere else - furniture from one room to another, people and belongings from one abode to another.
