Bonjour Ruth,

 

I suspect that the phrase "And as if that wasn't enough" from the lesson, is what you are querying.

The imparfait relates to   "was / were / would" in English.

What we have here in the lesson is one of those situations "And as if that wasn't enough"

--> "If that was not enough..."  this is the key to your query and why the imparfait is being used in this case.
